The Players is a private social club founded in 1888 when Edwin Booth, the greatest American actor of his time, purchased a Gothic Revival-style mansion facing Gramercy Park and commissioned architect Stanford White to transform it into a certain club 'for the promotion of social intercourse between the representative members of the dramatic profession and the kindred professions of literature, painting, sculpture and music, and the patrons of the arts.'

More than 130 years later, the tradition continues.

A magical, immersive production with live music and a simultaneous three course feast including hors d’oeuvres and wine pairings inspired by the world of the play. Staged by Richard Crawford, master Lecoq movement director (Cirque du Soleil, War Horse), this production will surround and envelope the guests to create a multi-course journey of the senses. Now in their fourth season, New Place Players are a company of Equity actors and world-class musicians, acclaimed for their ground breaking version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which was seen at the historic Players in NYC as well as Casa Duse in Park Slope and private homes and select venues. The Tempest will return once again to The Players and other select venues in NYC. Running throughout 2018.
